I came to the field of psychology after having had careers that were successful but not
fulfilling. Over time I thought long and hard, and decided to embark on a journey that I
had never before allowed myself to consider: psychology. I have been described as
passionate, intense, and deeply engaged. I know the pain and joy that comes from
having made choices that have drastically changed my life, from changing continents to
changing careers. I will hold space as you move toward seeing yourself more clearly,
make hard decisions when you need to, and become the person that exists peacefully
with your life.
When I’m not doing therapy, my nose can be found buried deep in books about different
places, cultures, and personal transformation.
I hold degrees and diplomas in fields ranging from Environmental Science and
International Development to Accounting, and I have over a decade of project
management experience in various institutions. Related to psychology, I hold an
Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto, and I am
completing a Master’s in Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Adler Graduate
Professional School in Toronto. I work under the supervision of the founder of Accord
Psychology, Dr. Melodie Lemay-Gaulin, C.Psych.
My style in the therapy room is reflective, exploratory, and analytical. I balance
connection and positive regard with clear communication and a desire to uncover the
truth of your experience, even when it is uncomfortable. I work to create a space that is
safe, intellectually and emotionally playful, and rooted in curiosity. I believe that we are
our best selves when we more fully know ourselves, and I hope to build that experience
with you.
My approach to therapy is based in psychodynamic thought; I believe that it is important
to understand how your history impacts you, and how your early relationships shape
how you view and interact with the world. I also make use of existential ideas to reflect
on the big questions in life, and humanistic theory to make sense of the emotional world
that you and I inhabit during our time together. Put simply, I want to sit together with you
in the therapy room and build an understanding of you and your life in as deep and
profound of a way as we can. By nature, this is reflective, exploratory, and long-term
work.
